Mai Savanh Lao ("Silk from Paradise") is a Fair Trade Lao Silk and Tea Company established in 2005 in Laos and a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) since 2009.
The idea to set up Mai Savanh Lao came out of development project that helped mulberry farmers and silk weavers produce high quality Lao silk scarves.
In light of the positive impact the project had on the population in some of the poorest areas in Laos, steps were taken to allow these people to continue to work with a sustainable partner and produce some of the finest Fair Trade Lao silk scarves and organic Lao mulberry tea available in Laos.
